What is the point of being here on earth? No, this is not one of those questions by a sucidial teenager who is threatening with her life for attention. This is really a question. And whoever is reading this is going to ask this at least once in thier life. Are we put her [or sent here, which ever you prefer] to serve a purpose and make the world a better place then before we came here? Or are we just plopped down here, live a life that is non existing to the other 8 billion plus population, die, go to a higher place [if you believe there is one] and watch others go through the exact same things we did in our time?
Where exactly do we go to after our life is taken from us? Do we just linger around, just a spirit, floating around the place we live? Does our soul go to heaven? Eventually, would this even matter? I don't think there is a single person who has thought this though on his/her's deathbed.
Do we and are we able to send messages to those who didn't pass over to the other side? What would we say? "Hey, don't make the same mistakes as I did or else you'll be screwed over just like I was?"
Does it matter what we have now in our possession? Last week at church, for the one time I actually paid full attention, the second reading, even though i forgot who wrote it and who it was sent to, actually has a meaning that isn't hidden. It was about the rich fool and the fact that one year he a very good harvest and all he did was plan to build a bigger farm to house the harvest. Obviously, God has something to do with this, so God tells him that he is going to take his life away that night.
Even though I can't really remember the complete parable, I remember the one of themoral: possessions are nothing after you're gone. It's better to share when you can. You aren't going to be bringing all your stuff with you when you're dead.
Why am I talking about death anyways? Who knows? I guess it's because I just watched this old chinese movie where this man died and then the screen flashes "The End".
That just a difference between western and eastern movies. 99.9% of all western movies end with a happy ending. The Hero gets the girl, the city is saved, the vilian is defeated/the villian turns good. But in eastern movies about 50% ends in a more normal way.
